The New York premiere of Jane Anderson’s play about Joan of Arc and her family, Mother of the Maid, officially opened at The Public Theater October 17. Leading the cast as Isabelle Arc is Tony winner and Oscar nominee Glenn Close, alongside Grace Van Patten as Joan.

Mother of the Maid, directed by Matthew Penn, began performances September 25 at The Public Theater. Following two extensions, the production will continue through December 23.

Van Patten and Close are joined onstage by Dermot Crowley (The Weir) as Jacques Arc, Olivia Gillatt (Pushkin) as Monique, Kate Jennings Grant (Noises Off) as Lady of the Court, Andrew Hovelson (Lucky Guy) as Pierre Arc, and Daniel Pearce (Machinal) as Father Gilbert.

Mother of the Maid features sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, and sound design and original music by Alexander Sovronsky and Joanna Lynne Staub.
