Irish Repertory Theatre has announced initial casting for its New York premiere of Leo McGann's The Honey Trap, which will play the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage September 17–November 9 with an official opening September 28.

Directed by Matt Torney, the cast will feature Doireann Mac Mahon (Corruption), Daniel Marconi (Sweeney Todd), Samantha Mathis (33 Variations), Molly Ranson (Prayer for the French Republic), Harrison Tipping (Up The Town), and Annabelle Zasowski (Evil), with additional actors to be announced.

The Honey Trap is set in Belfast 1979 at the height of the Troubles, as two off-duty British soldiers think they’ve hit it off with two local girls. But what begins as a night of flirtation and playful sparring soon turns dark. Decades later, as one of the soldiers recounts the events for an American oral history project, long-buried memories resurface, drawing him back to Belfast in search of answers and revenge.

The production will also have set design by Charlie Corcoran, lighting design by Michael Gottlieb, costume design by Sarita Fellows, sound design by James Garver, and properties by Nicole Rozanski.

April Ann Kline will serve as production stage manager, with Pamela Brusoski as assistant stage manager.

The Honey Trap, which made its world premiere in 2023 with Solas Nua, was presented as a staged reading at Irish Rep in 2024 as part of the New Works Fall Festival.
