Stranger Things star Maya Hawke will make her Off-Broadway debut in the title role of Signature Theatre's Eurydice, a new play penned by Spotlight Resident Sarah Ruhl. Les Waters will direct the production, which will run May 13-June 22 in Pershing Square Signature Center’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre.
Since her breakout performance as Robin Buckley in Stranger Things, Hawke has also appeared in Wes Anderson's Asteroid City, lent her voice to the animated film Inside Out 2, and more. Hawke has also received recognition for her work as a singer-songwriter, having released three studio albums to date.
Ruhl wrote Eurydice for her late father, reframing the myth of Eurydice and Orpheus to explore Eurydice's relationship with her own father, whom she encounters in the underworld.
Eurydice is the final production of of Ruhl's residency, which also featured stage adaptations of Ruhl and Max Ritvo's Letters from Max and Virginia Woolf's Orlando.
