Maestra Music, the not-for-profit organization supporting women and nonbinary musicians in the theatre industry, holds its second annual benefit concert March 28 at 8 PM ET at New York City's (Le) Poisson Rouge. In addition to the in-person event, Amplify 2022 will be available to live stream through Broadway Unlocked.
Tony nominee and Maestra Advisory Board Member Kate Baldwin directs and hosts the event, featuring stories, conversations, and musical performances of songs from trailblazing women composers including Micki Grant, Alanis Morissette, Jeanine Tesori, Shaina Taub, and more.
Performers set to appear include Tony nominee Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill), Jessica Vosk (Wicked), Mikaela Bennett, Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels), Michael Maliakel (Aladdin), Darius de Haas (Shuffle Along), Grace McLean (The Great Comet), Heidi Blickenstaff (Something Rotten!), Bryonha Marie Parham (Porgy and Bess), Lourds Lane (SuperYou), and Kennedy Caughell (Paradise Square).

Music Director Julianne B. Merrill and Associate Music Director Emily Erickson will lead a band made up entirely of Maestra members, with Merrill on piano, Yuka Tadano on bass, Elena Bonomo on drums, Meghan Doyle on guitar, Monica Davis on violin, Sasha Ono on the cello, and Chris MacDonnell playing tenor sax.
“It’s so thrilling to celebrate the incredible women and nonbinary people who make music in our industry with an in-person and online event this year,” said Baldwin and Maestra's founder Georgia Stitt in a joint statement. “Last year, we pulled off our inaugural concert and community event when Broadway was shut down and gathering together was only virtual. To have the opportunity to highlight composers, musicians, and performers who have helped provide community at a time when we needed it most, while raising money and awareness for Maestra’s programs, is a real joy.”
Stitt and Baldwin serve as writers for the event. The broadcast is directed by Jess Ryan, with Dustin Z. West in place as Livestream Production Manager and Jereme Kyle Lewis serving as stage manager.
Amplify 2022 is executive produced by Laura Ivey, Courtney A. Smith, and Greg Kamp.
