Maestra Music's RISE Theatre will bring back the RISE Summit for a second annual event September 9, at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The event looks to connect the theatre community committed to making the industry more equitable and inclusive. This year's summit will focus on accessibility, with the official theme of Pathways to Access.
The day will kick off with opening remarks from New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Executive Director Roberta Pareira and RISE Director Victoria Detres. A conversation with Ryan J. Haddad will close the day's programming. In-between, attendees will be able to take in panels led by RISE Network partners Axis Dance Company, Dance Delta Project, Invest in Access, Harriet Tubman Effect Institute, Expand the Canon, Parity Productions, and Women Count.
"At Maestra, our programming aims to promote equal opportunity, and access is a vital part of this equation," says Detres in a statement. "We wanted to look into the ways in which the industry is still upholding barriers to access with disability and opportunity. This is a community-focused event where leaders in access and resource building will have a platform to share their expertise with those eager to learn how we can all show up with more intentionality and care."
Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $10 to $20 here.
The Summit was co-founded by Maestra Music, the Miranda Family Fund, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
