Heathers: The Musical is getting a new crop of queen bees! 

The production, currently enjoying a hit run at Off-Broadway's New World Stages, was recently extended through January 25, 2026.

Lorna Courtney, who stars as Veronica Sawyer, will play her final performance December 8, prior to starting rehearsals for The Greatest Showman in the U.K. She will be replaced by Kuhoo Verma (The Big Sick, Octet), who will play her first performance December 11. Standby Sara Al-Bazali will perform Veronica at the interim performance December 10.

Additionally, both McKenzie Kurtz (Heather Chandler) and Olivia Hardy (Heather Duke) will be taking temporary leaves of absence from the production.

During Kurtz's leave, which will continue through mid November, Heather Chandler will be played by Jodie Steele, who originated the role in the West End production of Heathers. Steele will begin performances at the October 25 evening performance. 

During Hardy's leave, which will continue into early December, Heather Duke will be played by Kiara Michelle Lee, who is a current Heathers ensemble member in the role of Young Republicanette, beginning November 6. The Heathers company will welcome Thalia Atallah (Mean Girls, Anastasia) to the cast in the role of Young Republicanette.

The revolving door of Westerberg High is already in motion, as Kate Rockwell is filling in for her former Mean Girls Broadway costar Kerry Butler as guidance counselor Ms. Fleming through November 10 while Butler stars in Bat Boy at New York City Center Encores! 

Adapted from the 1988 film, the musical follows Westerberg High student Veronica Sawyer, who's on track to become one of the most popular girls in school after befriending the beautiful but cruel Heathers, only to meet a mysterious teen rebel who changes everything. Andy Fickman directs.
