Tony winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful, Waitress), Ryan Vasquez (The Notebook, Hamilton), and co-creator Hannah Corneau (Wicked, Renaissance) will be featured on the forthcoming concept album for the new musical Beautiful Little Fool, which will be released on all streaming platforms October 24.
The new musical, which will make its world premiere at London's Southwark Playhouse in January 2026, tells the story of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald through the eyes of their adult daughter Scottie, as she rediscovers the lives and writings of her parents.
Listen to Mueller, who plays Scottie on the concept album, perform "So Alive" in the music video above. The single is also available on all streaming platforms.
The album, recorded at Renaissance Recording in New York, is engineered and mixed by Ian Kagey and mastered by Oscar Zambrano. Orchestrations and music direction are by Adam Rothenberg. Mark Cortale, Ross Baum, and Corneau produced the recording, which casts Vasquez as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Corneau as Zelda. Complete casting for the London premiere will be announced September 4 when tickets go on sale; Mueller will not be part of the stage production.
Beautiful Little Fool, with music and lyrics by Corneau and a book by Mona Mansour, will be directed by Michael Greif.
Producer Cortale, who commissioned the musical in 2022 through the developmental theatre lab New Works Provincetown, said in a statement, “This project has been a labor of love from the very start. Hannah and Mona along with Michael Greif have crafted something incredibly thrilling. We hope the story of the Fitzgeralds—told from their daughter Scottie’s perspective—will resonate with audiences everywhere.”
