Feinstein’s/54 Below features the following events of interest to theatre folk the week of January 4–11:
January 4: Freedom Riders: The Civil Rights Musical!
Concert performance of the score from the Richard Allen-Taran Gray musical, performed by a cast of stage veterans including Brynn Williams (SpongeBob SquarePants), Anthony Chatmon III (Into the Woods), Ciaran McCarthy, and others. 7 PM.
January 5: Up in the Cheap Seats with Ron Fassler & Friends
Debbie Gravitte, Kevin Chamberlin, Lee Wilkoff, Anita Gillette, Elmore James, and Michael C. Bernardi are among guest stars who will help Fassler recreate 1970s Broadway in a cabaret show based on his recent book of the same title. 7 PM. Click here for details.
January 5: Cry: A Sad Song Marathon!
Haul out the hankies. Veanne Cox leads a group of Broadway veterans in a program of songs to make you weep, from show tunes, to pop, to country. 9:30 PM.
January 6–7, 9–10, 12–13: Matthew Morrison
The star of TV’s Glee and Broadway’s Finding Neverland, The Light in the Piazza, and other shows, returns to the cabaret stage with a retrospective of his career. 7 PM. Click here for details.
January 6: 54 Sings Broadway’s Greatest Hits!
Skipping through classic Broadway scores, the latest in this concert series will feature favorite show tunes performed by young stage performers including Farah Alvin, Brian Charles Rooney, Rita Harvey, Oakley Boycott, Maxine Linehan, Alyse Alan Louis, and Tiffany Tatreau. 9:30 PM.
January 7: Javier Colon From The Voice Sings Broadway
Colon, Season 1 winner ofThe Voice, makes his Feinstein’s/54 Below debut with a playlist of show tunes including “Maria” (West Side Story), “Bring Him Home” (Les Misérables), and “Hold Me in Your Heart” (Kinky Boots). 9:30 PM.
January 8: The Drowsy Chaperone in Concert!
Tony Award winners Beth Leavel and Bob Martin will join other members of the original 2006 cast of the Broadway musical for two concert performances of the show, 7 and 9:30 PM. Click here for details.
January 9: 54 Sings Jason Mraz
Pop singer Mraz, who recently joined the cast of Broadway’s Waitress, will get a nightclub salute with performances of his hits, including “I’m Yours,” “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry),” “A Beautiful Mess,” “1000 Things,” and “I’m Coming Over.” They will be sung by a diverse cast of Broadway performers including Colton Ryan (Dear Evan Hansen), Adam Kaplan, Daniel Quadrino, Dan DeLuca, Kaitlyn Frank, Jennafer Newberry, Ximone Rose, Brian Flores, Shea Holcomb, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, George Salazar, and Matt Rodin.
