A roster of Broadway favorites will hit NYC cabaret mainstay The Laurie Beechman Theatre August 25 for a concert fundraiser supporting Core Theatre Group, a new professional theatre company in New York's Warwick Valley. The evening will be the group's first-ever fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards the company's mission to bring professional, accessible performing arts to its community.
Scheduled to perform are Julie Benko (Funny Girl), Christine Pedi, Daniel Brenner, Brandon Contreras (Operation Mincemeat), Matthew Curiano, Joshua Dean and Ben Franklin (2 Ring Circus), Luisa Fuentes, Remy Germinario, Dominic Green, Alex Haines, Sarah Hamaty, Rebecca Kuznick, Chuck Ragsdale (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Ariella Serur (1776), and DeAnne Stewart (Jagged Little Pill). Additional performers are to be announced.
Paul Loesel (Wicked) is music directing, with Michael Kushner producing.
“While Broadway is incredibly important and informs the cultural zeitgeist, regional theatre always proves to be a breeding ground for new stories, new perspectives, and new talent," says Kushner in a statement. "Just an hour outside of the city, Core Theatre is proving to do just that—transform what regional theatre looks like. At this event, we hope to raise funds for our upcoming season, further enriching smaller communities—something America so desperately needs at this moment."
Tickets are at TheBeechman.com.
