Julia Mattison Rocks Out as Multiple Musicians in Hilarious New Docuseries "Brooklyn Sound" | Playbill

News Julia Mattison Rocks Out as Multiple Musicians in Hilarious New Docuseries "Brooklyn Sound" Julia Mattison, who appeared in the Broadway revival of Godspell, is the creator, writer and star of the new musical docuseries "Brooklyn Sound," now available to stream on Vimeo.

The show, about a legendary recording studio in danger of closing its doors, also stars Noel Carey and Quinn Marcus (MTV's "Girl Code") and features guest actors from popular shows such as "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Empire."

The series is described as "'Portlandia' meets 'Parks and Rec' meets 'A Mighty Wind.' Created by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey, the show is fueled by exciting original music and wonderfully wacky characters, all grounded in a loving tribute to the world of recorded music."

Each episode features a new band or musical artist visiting the studio. Some of the bands in these first six episodes include the death-obsessed pop sensation SHEE, YouTube child stars Kookie & Milano, "Real Housewives" wannabe Yolanda Princhard and the legendary 70s folk trio Why the Lilacs? In addition to playing characters in each band, Mattison and Carey also composed and play all of the original music in the show.

"This has been a dream chance to spoof and pay tribute to all of these musical artists and styles that we are such fans of," says Mattison.
