Salgado directs and choreographs the production, which is being produced by R.Evolución Latina and Salgado Productions.
Amigo Duende features music and lyrics by Henry (The Scottsboro Boys) and a book by Henry, Hogan (In The Heights stage manager) and Salgado (In The Heights, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) based on Flavia Lugo de Marichal's story of the same name.
In Amigo Duende, according to press notes, "it's the night before first grade begins and Marisa is faced with an important choice. Will she be able to enjoy her larger-than-life world of adventures with her best friend Remolino, a wisecracking elf, or will she be forced to leave behind her childhood fantasies and become a grown-up? Nothing is impossible in Amigo Duende, a modern-day fairy tale based on the classic story by Flavia Lugo de Marichal where your favorite childhood toys sing and dance, fantasies become reality, and a little girl fights to keep imagination alive in a world daring her to grow up fast."
The cast of Amigo Duende features Ehizoje Azeke, Molly Bier, Giselle D’Souza, Salina Faison, Cindy Fernandez, Grace Freeman, Tauren Hagans, Andy Herr, Sasha Hollinger, Jasmine Knight, Christopher Michael Lacey, Anthony Martinez, Erin Maya, David Melendez, Ari Stachel, Greg Uliasz, Stephesha David and Tony Vo.
Other members of the creative team include Kate Rance (scenic designer), Herrick Goldman (lighting designer), Harry Nadal (costume designer), Michael Eisenberg (sound designer), Manuel de la Portilla (projection designer), Jason Burrow (musical director), Valeria Cossu (assistant choreographer) and Julie Miller (general manager). Amigo Duende is offered Oct. 5 at 7:30 PM, Oct. 6 at 1 PM and 7 PM and Oct. 7 at 1 PM with student matinees at 10 AM and noon on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5.
