Josh Groban, who will make his Broadway debut this fall in the new musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, has released a single from the show's score, “Dust and Ashes,” featuring a 30-piece orchestra. The song was written for the recent A.R.T. production, on which the Broadway mounting will be based. The show’s writer and original Pierre, Dave Malloy, previously revealed that sections of the score would be expanded for Groban.

The Great Comet casts Groban as Pierre and Denée Benton as Natasha. Created by Malloy and directed by Rachel Chavkin (Small Mouth Sounds, Preludes), performances will begin at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) October 18, with opening night set for November 14. Tickets are on sale now and available at Telecharge.com.

The immsersive production will radically transform Broadway’s Imperial Theatre for its run.

The new musical, according to press notes, is a “theatrical experience like no other. Malloy’s inspired adaptation of a 70-page slice of War and Peace puts audiences just inches away from Tolstoy’s brash young lovers, as they light up Moscow in an epic tale of romance and passion.”
