Johnny Berchtold has replaced the previously announced Sawyer Barth in Second Stage's upcoming New York premiere of Bess Wohl's Camp Siegfried, which begins October 26 at the Tony Kiser Theater and officially opens November 15. Barth has withdrawn from the production due to scheduling conflicts.

Berchtold, whose screen credits include Gaslit and The Wilds, will make his Off-Broadway stage debut in the work along with co-star Lily McInerny. The company also includes understudies Jane Ackermann and Charlie B. Foster.

Set on the cusp of World War II at Long Island's real-life Camp Siegfried, the play follows two teenagers who find themselves headed towards either young passion or fascist extremism. The play received its world premiere at London's Old Vic last year.

Directed by David Cromer, the production will feature scenic design by Brett Banakis, costume design by Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, and sound design by Christopher Darbassie. Casting is by The Telsey Office.

Second Stage's 2022-23 season also includes the Broadway premieres of Stephen Adly Guirgis' Between Riverside and Crazy, directed by Austin Pendleton and scheduled to begin performances at the Hayes Theatre this fall; and Larissa FastHorse's The Thanksgiving Play, set to play the Hayes next spring. FastHorse will become the first female Native American playwright to be produced on Broadway with the production. The company's Tony-winning revival of Richard Greenberg's Take Me Out will also return to Broadway for a commercial encore run, with performances beginning October 27 at the Schoenfeld Theatre.
