News Joan Cusack Joins Cast of "Shameless" Stage and screen vet Joan Cusack has joined the cast of the upcoming Showtime dysfunctional-family series "Shameless," according to Variety.

Cusack has replaced Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Allison Janney as Sheila, the mother of a sexually active daughter. Janney left the project because of her commitment to ABC's midseason series, "Mr. Sunshine." A Theatre World Award winner for her work in the plays Brilliant Traces and Road, Cusack also appeared as Imogen in a Public Theater production of Cymbeline. An Oscar nominee for "In and Out" and Working Girl," her other screen credits include "Toy Story" (2 and 3), "Raising Helen," "High Fidelity," "Cradle Will Rock," "Grosse Pointe Blank," "Addams Family Values," "Married to the Mob" and "Sixteen Candles." She appeared on television in "What About Joan" and "Saturday Night Live."

The series stars William H. Macy (Speed-the-Plow, Oleanna, "Fargo") as a working-class, hard-drinking father of six children. Emmy Rossum ("The Phantom of the Opera") will play his oldest child.

The show will be executive produced by John Wells and Paul Abbott. It will go into production in a few weeks and run on Sundays at 10 PM on Showtime beginning Jan. 9, 2011.
