James Monroe Iglehart and Capathia Jenkins, stars of Aladdin and Caroline, or Change, respectively, will be front and center with the New York Pops Orchestra in its Heart and Soul concert February 2 at Carnegie Hall.
Music director Steven Reineke will conduct the Pops on the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at 8 PM that day.
The concert features R&B songs re-imagined for a full symphony orchestra such as “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me,” “Let’s Stay Together,” and “Ordinary People,” made famous by music legends including Al Green, Aretha Franklin, John Legend, and others.
Iglehart, who is currently appearing as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton on Broadway, won the Tony for his performance as the Genie in Aladdin. In addition to her performance in Caroline, or Change, Jenkins played Medda Larkin in the Broadway premiere of Newsies.
