You might be a new Wicked fan because you've seen the movie adaptation, or you may have always wanted to see Wicked on stage. Whatever the reason, dear Ozian, now's a great time to immerse yourself in Oz, as the stage show continues in its second decade on Broadway.
Running at the Gershwin Theatre on 51st Street, there are a handful of ways clever audience members can score Wicked tickets at below box office price.
For students possessing a valid student ID, a limited number of $69 tickets are available at the box office, up to a month in advance for select weekday performances. Subject to availability, these seats can be anywhere within the theatre, at the box office attendant's discretion. Student tickets are limited to two tickets per ID.
Larger groups of students should book through Wicked's Group Sales webpage, where rear mezzanine tickets are available for $59 and rear orchestra are available for $79.
For military veterans possessing a valid military ID, a limited number of $79 tickets are available up to a month in advance for select weekday performances. Subject to availability, these seats can be anywhere within the theatre, at the box office attendants discretion.
For fans without special IDs, Wicked offers a day-of digital lottery. Wicked does not offer in-person rush tickets, and their in-person ticket lottery is currently suspended. Currently, the only public lottery available is the BroadwayDirect digital lottery.
Lottery tickets are $70 for Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening, and Sunday matinee performances. All other performances are $60. Beginning January 2025, the lottery ticket prices will be $50, including all fees. All lottery winners are able to purchase up to two tickets at the lottery price.
For matinee performances, the lottery will open the day before at 10 AM and close the day before at 4 PM. For evening performances, the lottery will open the day before at 8 PM and close the day of the performance at 11 AM. Winners will then be notified and will have 1 hour to purchase the tickets by credit card online. The e-ticket will then be emailed to the winner’s email address. The number of lottery tickets released varies per performance, as does the location of the lottery seats.
Wicked does not offer standing room tickets. Wheelchair seating is available in the orchestra and mezzanine of the theatre, and wheelchair users may purchase one wheelchair and up to three companion seats per order if available. For guests with limited mobility, there are also seats available with folding armrests for aisle transfer.
If your timing is flexible and you want to plan ahead, keep a look out for Broadway Week deals, which occur for two weeks every January and September. During Broadway Week, almost every show on the Main Stem will provide two tickets for the price of one, and Wicked has participated in recent years by providing 2-for-1 tickets. So check back on Playbill.com since we will announce Broadway Week when the deals are live.
But do not worry, there's more shows on Broadway. For more information on how to get the cheapest tickets to Broadway's biggest hits, visit Playbill's Broadway Rush/Lottery/Standing Room Policies Page.
