The upcoming Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza's Art, translated by Christopher Hampton, has revealed its digital lottery and in-person rush policies. Here's how to get the best deal on tickets.
Scott Ellis (Pirates! The Penzance Musical) is directing the revival, which will begin performances at the Music Box Theatre August 28 with an official opening September 16. The limited engagement will run until December 21.
In-person rush tickets will be available for purchase every day at the Music Box Theatre box office. Beginning at 10 AM Monday through Saturday, and at noon on Sundays, a limited number of rush tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rush tickets are only sold for day-of performances at the box office for $49 per ticket. Purchasers are limited to two tickets at that price, subject to availability.
Digital lottery tickets will be available via Telecharge. Purchasers may enter the lottery starting at 12 AM ET one day before the performance they wish to see. Winners are drawn later that same day at 10 AM and 3 PM ET. Purchasers are limited to two tickets at that price, subject to availability.
The revival of Reza's 1998 Tony winner will star Tony winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors; The Late Late Show), Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, How I Met Your Mother), and Tony nominee Bobby Cannavale (The Motherfucker with the Hat, Mauritius, Third Watch).
This is the first Broadway revival of Reza's play, which was originally produced in French and then subsequently translated into English for Broadway by Christopher Hampton. The work is about three friends whose friendship is tested when one of them (Serge, to be played by Harris) buys an expensive painting that Marc (Cannavale) dislikes. The third friend, Yvan (Corden), is stuck in the middle. The original Broadway production had a similarly starry cast when it first ran on Broadway in 1998—that original production starred Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina (who received a Tony nomination for his performance).
The staging will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Jen Schriever, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman.
The revival is being produced by Michael Shulman's Sand & Snow Entertainment, ATG Productions, and Gavin Kalin Productions. 101 Productions, Ltd will serve as executive producer and general managaer, and casting by is Jim Carnahan.
