Connecticut's Goodspeed Musicals has revealed it will present three new musicals at the Terris Theatre in 2024, joining a previously announced mainstage season that will include revivals of South Pacific, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and A Christmas Story The Musical, along with the U.S. premiere of Maggie.
The newly announced Terris season will kick off with A Complicated Woman, running May 10-June 2. Featuring a book by Ianne Fields Stewart, music by Jonathan Brielle, and lyrics by Sam Salmond and Brielle, the work explores the double life of noted summer stock impresario John Kenley, who used to winter in Florida as Jean. Jeff Calhoun (Newsies) is directing.
Next up will be Ask for the Moon!, a new musical that has Tony-winning director Darko Tresnjak putting on his book writer-lyricist hat. Along with his writing credits, Tresnjak is directing the new work, which features music by Oran Eldor. The comedy is set aboard the Jewel of the Sea ocean liner, following the wacky passengers on its manifest. Performances will run July 19-August 11.
The season will close with another new musical to be announced, performing September 27-October 27.
Season tickets go on sale January 30, with single ticket sales following March 19. Visit Goodspeed.org.
