Elevator Repair Service's Gatz completes its final NYC encore at Off-Broadway's Public Theater December 1. Previews began November 1, with opening night November 8.
The work, which uses the complete and unabridged text of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby as its script over its eight-hour running time (including a two-hour intermission and two 15-minute breaks), played two earlier runs at the Public, in 2010 and 2012. This encore staging, described in press notes as its "Final NYC Encore," is the piece's first since the source material passed into public domain in 2021.
The cast, which features a number of alum from the production's earlier stagings, includes Scott Shepherd as Nick, Jim Fletcher as Jay, Maggie Hoffman as Lucille, Susie Sokol as Jordan, Tory Vazquez as Daisy, Pete Simpson as Tom, Frank Boyd as George, Laurena Allan as Myrtle, Annie McNamara as Catherine, Vin Knight as Chester, Ben Jalosa Williams as Michaelis, Mike Iveson as Ewing, and Ross Fletcher as Henry C. Gatz.
