The Chicago premiere of Thrones! The Musical Parody, a take on the popular television series Game of Thrones, has been given a second extension. Performances will continue through January 15, 2017, at the Apollo Theater Chicago.
Written and produced by the creative team behind Baby Wants Candy and 50 Shades! The Musical Parody, the show from Scotland details the highs and lows of the hit HBO series and is written by Chris Grace, Zach Reino, Al Samuels, and Dan Wessels.
Thrones! The Musical Parody will also begin its West Coast run at Hudson Theater Mainstage (at 6539 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles) November 17. Performances will run through January 18, 2017.
“As we enter the second extension of Thrones! at the Apollo, I can’t say enough how proud I am of this amazing Chicago team bringing this hilarious story to life,” said executive producer Emily Dorezas. “The show continues to surprise audiences—both Game of Thrones fans and non-fans alike—and after the success of the run here in Chicago, we are ready and excited to bring it to Los Angeles for the next phase of this production.”
Here’s how the show is billed: “As Spencer, Brad, Hayden, Ross, Kelly and Tom gather for the season finale of Game of Thrones, they soon find out the ultimate travesty: that Brad does not watch the show. Over the course of 90 minutes, the group bands together to act out all six seasons (read: spoilers) for Brad, including dashing men battling White Walkers, ravishing women riding fire-breathing dragons, and the infamous Walk of Shame.”
Thrones! debuted to sold-out performances at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Directed by Hannah Todd with choreography by Tyler Sawyer Smith, the cast includes Caitlyn Cerza, Nick Druzbanski, Madeline Lauzon, Beau Nolen, Victoria Olivier, and Christopher Ratliff. Dakota Hughes and Tanner Munson are the production understudies.
The creative team also includes Thomas O. Mackey III (set designer), Eric Backus (sound designer), Amanda Gladu (costume designer), Patrick Ham (prop designer), Clare Sangster (light designer), and R&D Choreography (violence design). Emily Dorezas, Rob Kolson, and Al Samuels produce.
