The acclaimed new musical that fuses the worlds of contemporary and classic to tell the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, began Broadway previews July 13 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The two-disc cast album will be produced by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, founding members of the Grammy-winning hip-hop band, The Roots. The cast album will be available for pre-order beginning Aug. 7, the day after the production's official Broadway opening.
Additional details on a specific release date are expected in the coming weeks.
The new musical by Tony Award-winning In the Heights star and creator Miranda explores the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, the musical incorporates historical figures such as George Washington, Aaron Burr, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.
The new musical reunites the award-winning In the Heights team. Tony nominee Thomas Kail is at the helm, with choreography from Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler, and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Miranda, who wrote the show's book, music and lyrics, stars in the title role.
