Broadway News 'Everyone Deserves the Chance to Fly': Wicked Holding Open Call for Broadway and Touring Productions

The international hit musical will hold an audition in Atlanta; self-tapes will also be accepted.

The Telsey Office is hosting an open call in Atlanta for the Broadway and national touring company of the international hit musical Wicked.

Auditions will be held September 22 at the Synchronicity Annex. Those planning to audition should prepare 16–32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song; sopranos may sing 16 bars of a traditional legit musical theatre song. A piano accompanist will be provided; bring sheet music as well as a picture and resume stapled together. 

Producers are also looking to fill the roles of Elphaba, Glinda, Fiyero, The Wizard of Oz, Madame Morrible, Nessarose, Boq, and Doctor Dillamond.

Performers of any ethnicity and gender are welcome, and no previous professional experience is necessary. Performers are required to wear masks while inside the venue, although masks may be removed when singing.

Since opening on Broadway October 30, 2003, Wicked has been performed in over 100 cities in 16 countries. In October 2019, the international hit musical surpassed Les Misérables to become the fifth longest-running production in Broadway history.

Wicked, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.

The Joe Mantello-helmed production features musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn, and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott. Casting is by the Telsey Office.

The musical, which reopened on Broadway September 14, 2021, following the pandemic shutdown, is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone.
