Broadway News Eva Noblezada Concludes Run in Broadway's The Great Gatsby January 30

The new musical, based on the famed novel of the same name, continues at the Broadway Theatre.

Eva Noblezada, who created the role of Daisy Buchanan in Broadway's The Great Gatsby, concludes her run in that new musical January 30 at the Broadway Theatre.

Noblezada will be succeeded by Sarah Hyland (Modern Family, Little Shop of Horrors), who will join the company February 10. During the interim, the role of Daisy will be played by a mix of understudies to be announced.

Noblezada, a two-time Tony nominee for her performances in Hadestown and Miss Saigon, has a busy schedule ahead of her. Prior to joining the West End company of Hadestown, she and Reeve Carney will headline a London concert February 9 at His Majesty’s Theatre. The in-demand performer will subsequently become Broadway's newest Sally Bowles in the immersive revival of Cabaret beginning March 31.

Based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby features music and lyrics by Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square) and Jason Howland (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones). Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs with choreography by Dominique Kelley (Mariah’s Magical Christmas Special).

Set in the Roaring '20s, the musical follows eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby, who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.

The Broadway cast also currently features Ryan McCartan (Frozen) as Jay Gatsby with Noah J. Ricketts (Frozen) as Nick Carraway, Sara Chase (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Myrtle, Samantha Pauly (Six) as Jordan Baker, John Zdrojeski (Good Night Oscar) as Tom Buchanan, Terrence Mann (Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables) as Wolfsheim, and Charlie Pollock (Urinetown) as George Wilson.

The Great Gatsby also has scenic and projection design by Paul Tate de Poo III, costume design by Linda Cho, sound design by Brian Ronan, lighting design by Cory Pattak, and hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier.

Arrangements are by Jason Howland, orchestrations are by Howland and Kim Scharnberg, the music director is Daniel Edmonds, and the music producer is Grammy winner Billy Jay Stein for Strike Audio.

Casting is by C12 Casting, and the production stage manager is Brian Bogin. Mark Shacket of Foresight Theatrical serves as executive producer.

The new musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.
