Dramatists Play Service, an imprint of Concord Theatricals, has added a one-act version of Peter Pan Goes Wrong to its catalogue. The full, two-act version of the title—from the creators of and a follow-up to The Play That Goes Wrong—joined the library in June. The one-act version is now available to groups in the U.S. and Canada.
The work is written by and originally starred Henry Shields, Henry Lewis, and Jonathan Sayer, following the Cornley Drama Society from The Play That Goes Wrong as they tackle J.M. Barrie's iconic Peter Pan—or try to, at least. Needless to say, mishaps, missed cues, and various onstage hijinks ensue.
The work premiered in London in 2013, ultimately playing a holiday run in the West End in 2015 and getting a BBC broadcast the following year. A Broadway bow followed in 2023, with much of the original London cast reprising their performances. The one-act revision follows the same story as the two-act edition, just condensing the action to make the title easier to produce.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Mischief team to make One-Act Peter Pan Goes Wrong available for theatre makers and audiences,” says Amy Rose Marsh, SVP of Acquisitions and Artistic Development at Concord Theatricals. “Given the enthusiasm for the comedic genius of Mischief’s The Play That Goes Wrong, and all of its licensing iterations, it was important to us from the outset to also create a version of Peter Pan Goes Wrong that any theatre can produce, regardless of the size of its budget or technical capacities.”
