Vampire rock/pop-opera Blood/Love takes the stage at Joe's Pub January 15 at 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM. The original score by Carey Sharpe, Dru Decaro, Erin Boehme, and Adam “snake” Kobylarz immerses audiences into a gothic nightclub where vampires mingle with the living.
Daniel LeClaire will direct the concert, which will feature Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) as Anzick, Jelani Remy (Back to the Future) as Ezra, Courtney Reed (Moulin Rouge!, Aladdin) as Cleo, and Sharpe as Valerie Bloodlove. Boehme and Timothy Lanier will serve as understudies for the roles of Cleo/Valerie and Anzick/Ezra, respectively, while also providing backing vocals.
Jonathan Platero and Oksana Platero (Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can Dance?) provide choreography, and will serve as key dancers. Nicholas Connell is the music director.
The work follows Valerie Bloodlove, who has been banished to roam earth for eternity. She has spent the centuries beside her vampire confidants, Cleo and Ezra. Valerie’s exile has left her longing until she meets a human named Anzik.
