Broadway and TV favorite Colin Donnell will return to the New York stage this summer in the Encores! Off-Center presentation of Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World. Performances will run June 27–30 at New York City Center.
Donnell joins the previously announced Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Mykal Kilgore (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert), and Solea Pfeiffer (Hamilton) in the Kate Whoriskey-helmed production.
An alum of Broadway's Violet and Anything Goes, Donnell currently stars as Dr. Connor Rhodes on NBC's Chicago Med (after playing the role on Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.). He is also known on screen for his performances in Arrow and The Affair. Additional stage credits include the Encores! presentations of Merrily We Roll Along and Lady, Be Good!.
The staging, musically directed by Tom Murray, will feature choreography by Rennie Harris, who will also incorporate an ensemble of dancers into the song cycle.
As previously announced, the summer lineup willl continue with the late Michael Friedman's Gone Missing (with a cast featuring Taylor Mac and Susan Blackwell) and Micki Grant and Vinnette Carroll's Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope.
