News Check Out This Exclusive Clip from This Ground-Breaking “Verbatim Musical” The film uses the verbatim words of interviewees set against an original score to tell the story of the true-to-life tragedy.

In 2006, the bodies of five women were discovered in the town of Ipswich. A local resident was charged and found guilty of the murders, as the town struggled to deal with loss, confusion and shock. London Road, a new documentary-style film from director Rufus Norris, is a musical mystery about the true events surrounding the discovery. Writer Alecky Blythe interviewed the residents of London Road and set the exact words from these interviews to an original score to create a musical documenting the events and the rebuilding of this community.

A stage production of the work played two sold-out runs at London’s National Theatre.

The movie hits theatres September 9. The cast features Olivia Colman, Anita Dobson and Tom Hardy and the play’s original cast members, Clare Burt, Rosalie Craig, James Doherty, Kate Fleetwood, Hal Fowler, Linzi Hateley, Nick Holder, Claire Moore, Michael Shaeffer, Nicola Sloane, Paul Thornley, Howard Ward, and Duncan Wisbey.
