Suffs, the new Broadway musical that centers on the Woman's Suffrage movement, has announced a partnership with nonpartisan initiative When We All Vote to promote voter registration.
The production will provide resources for Suffs audience members to check their registration status and register to vote at the show, with When We All Vote volunteers on hand to assist. A voter registration portal is also accessible via the Suffs website.
“Voting rights are a central theme of Suffs. We are excited to partner with When We All Vote to remind audiences of their constitutional right the suffragists fought so valiantly for over a century ago,” Suffs lead producers Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman said in a statement. “In this crucial election year, citizens need to use their voices and fight for the causes they care about, and we hope Suffs inspires them to do just that.”
“The 1913 fight for a women’s right to vote is a classic American story of people making their voices heard and pushing the country to be better," Beth Lynk, Executive Director of When We All Vote, added. "Today, the work continues to ensure everyone has equal access to the ballot box, and we are proud to partner with Suffs to change the culture around voting in our country, starting with knowing our history. Together, we encourage all Americans to speak up about the issues they care about—both on stage and at the polls.”
Suffs has also partnered with clothing brand Lingua Franca to launch a capsule collection of sustainably sourced and hand-embroidered cashmere sweaters. 10% of all proceeds will benefit When We All Vote. The sweaters, which are embroidered with phrases from the show, are available online here and at the merchandise booth at the Music Box Theatre.

Suffs began previews March 26 at the Music Box Theatre, ahead of an April 18 opening night. The musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Shaina Taub, and previously played a sold-out run at the Public Theater in 2022. Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman are producing the Broadway premiere, with Hillary Clinton and Malala Yousafzai as co-producers.
Taub stars in her own musical, reprising her Off-Broadway performance as Alice Paul, alongside Tony winner Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) as Ida B. Wells, Tony nominee Jenn Colella (Come From Away) as Carrie Chapman Catt, Grace McLean (Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812) as President Woodrow Wilson, Hannah Cruz as Inez Milholland, Kim Blanck as Ruza Wenclawska, Anastacia McCleskey (Waitress) as Mary Church Terrell, Ally Bonino as Lucy Burns, Tsilala Brock as Dudley Malone, Nadia Dandashi as Doris Stevens, and Tony nominee Emily Skinner (Side Show) as Alva Belmont/Phoebe Burn. All cast members—save for Skinner, McCleskey, and Blanck—were also part of the Off-Broadway production. Bonino and Dandashi make their Broadway debuts in the show.
The cast also includes Hawley Gould (Camelot) as the alternate for Alice Paul, Jaygee Macapugay (Here Lies Love) as Mollie Hay, and Laila Drew as Phyllis Terrell/Robin. The ensemble includes Dana Costello, Jenna Bainbridge, Monica Tulia Ramirez, Ada Westfall, Christine Heesun Hwang, Kirsten Scott, Housso Sémon, and D'Kaylah Unique Whitley. Chessa Metz serves as understudy.
Director Leigh Silverman again directs the Broadway production, which features a largely new creative team. Aside from returning music supervisor and music director Andrea Grody, the Broadway creative team includes Suffs newcomers choreographer Mayte Natalio, scenic designer Riccardo Hernández, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, sound designer Jason Crystal, and orchestrator Michael Starobin. 101 Productions is the general manager.
