National Tour News Broadway's Maybe Happy Ending Will Launch a National Tour in 2026

Starring Darren Criss and Helen J Shen, the Will Aronson-Hue Park musical is currently a Best Musical Tony nominee, with 10 total nods.

Broadway's Maybe Happy Ending will hit the road in fall 2026, with a national tour set to launch from Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre. The multi-year tour already has more than 30 cities on its schedule, inculding Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Tampa, St. Louis, Detroit, San Francisco, and Providence. Casting, and a detailed touring itinerary, are to be announced.

“We’re thrilled to launch the North American tour of Maybe Happy Ending in the vibrant city of Baltimore, where the spirit of innovation and storytelling runs deep,” says Ron Legler, France-Merrick Performing Arts Center president, in a statement. “It’s the perfect place to begin this journey of heart, humor, and unexpected connection.”

The musical, which opened its Broadway bow November 12, 2024, at the Belasco Theatre, is currently flying high as one of three shows tied for the distinction of being the most Tony-nominated production of the season. The show is up for 10 categories at this year's Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score and Book for Hue Park and Will Aronson, Best Direction of a Musical for Michael Arden, and Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Darren Criss. Winners will be named June 8 at Radio City Music Hall in a ceremony set to broadcast live on CBS and stream via Paramount+.

The Broadway cast features Helen J Shen and Criss starring as, respectively, Claire and Oliver, South Korea-based Helperbots that have been deemed obsolete. The pair form an unlikely bond, setting off a surprising and romantic adventure. The music is by Aronson with lyrics by Park and a book by Park and Aronson. Casting is by Telsey & Co's Craig Burns.

Arden will reprise his Broadway direction for the road company, reuniting a creative team boasting scenic and additional video designer Dane Laffrey, costume designer Clint Ramos, lighting designer Ben Stanton, sound designer Peter Hylenski, video designer George Reeve, music supervisor Deborah Abramson, and music director John Yun.
