Grosses Broadway Grosses Analysis: Jimmy Fallon Takes All In to The $2 Million Club

The starry show was the second-highest grosser of the week, only behind juggernaut Wicked.

SNL alum and late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon made his Broadway debut last week in All In: Comedy About Love, part of a rotating roster of stars appearing in the show. Fallon played just eight performances over one single week, but apparently audiences were really into that and were willing to pay for it. The stunt casting put the show in The $2 Million Club as much of the rest of Broadway remains in a sleepy winter.

It was the highest-grossing week of the show's run so far, and that's all thanks to some pretty wild ticket prices. The show has been sold out every week (save one, when they were 99.66% sold) with all of the various casts, but Fallon's week saw the average ticket price climb to the astronomical $268.69, beating the next highest average last week by more than $100. Thanks, Jimmy!

After Wicked and All In, the rest of the top five was filled out by mainstays The Lion KingGypsy, and Hamilton, followed closely by Sunset Boulevard and The Outsiders. And just below that is Death Becomes Her, which is shaping up to be a solid success at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. That makes three of last week's top 10 highest grossers new shows from this season, which is pretty impressive.

But they aren't the only newcomers doing well. Redwood gave just six previews last week, at least two of which were down the musical's Tony-winning star, Idina Menzel. But it still brought in just under $700k, meaning the new title is still well on its way to debuting in The $1 Million Club once we get a full eight-performance week out of it. Oh, Mary! is also holding strong without original star and writer Cole EscolaGlow star Betty Gilpin became the show's new Mary Todd Lincoln January 21, and the show is still bringing in more than $800k, the third highest-grossing non-musical play behind Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the star-led Romeo and Juliet.
