Urban Stages, in association with Guild Hall of East Hampton, will present the American premiere of the critically acclaimed British comedy Angry Young Man.
Stephen Hamilton will direct Ben Woolf’s play, which is scheduled to begin previews March 17 prior to an official opening March 23. The run will play through April 9 at Urban Stages, located at 259 West 30th Street. The show will then move to the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall in East Hampton May 31–June 18.
In search of a fresh start, the show depicts the immigration of a Middle Eastern surgeon, Yuri, who moves to London for work. Yuri discovers some hidden truths about England and his new companion Patrick, forcing Yuri to make a difficult decision between his honor and his new life in Britain.
This production will have lighting design by Sebastian Paczynski, set design by Frank Oliva, costume design by Yuka Silvera, and sound design by David M. Lawson. Doug Mills will serve as the technical director, Taylor Alyessa Marun as the production stage manager, and Brian Clemente as the assistant stage manager. The development and literary director is Antoinette Mullins, and the company manager/financial administrator is Olga Devyatisilnaya. Peter Napolitano is the associate producer.
Casting, to be announced at a later date, will be by Stephanie Klapper.
