Sistas star Brian Jordan Jr. will preview his new HBCU-themed musical Riley with an album, Riley: The Mixtape, to release in October on streaming platforms. Two tracks will drop as singles next month.

Written by Jordan Jr., the score of Riley blends gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and musical theatre to tell the story of a young Black man navigating Greek life, band culture, student politics, and love at an HBCU. A full staged production is planned to follow the album.

Riley is a tribute to the communities that raised me, and this music is the heartbeat of that world,” says Jordan Jr. in a statement. “It’s fun, emotional, theatrical, and deeply Black, and I’m so proud to share it with everyone finally. I look forward to partnering with visionaries within the creative community that believe in telling fresh new stories for the next generation of Broadway, and this mixtape is where it all begins.” Jordan Jr. is also serving as executive producer of the album.
