Out of the Box Theatrics and Jennifer Campos Productions present a staged reading of Shelli Pentimall Bookler's Call Me Abigail October 17. Directed by Christina Sajous, the reading will be held beginning at 7:15 PM ET at TheaterLab in NYC for in-person audiences, with a live stream option available via OOTBTheatrics.com.
The cast includes Tony nominees Brenda Braxton (Smokey Joe's Café) and Marc Kudisch (9 to 5), along with Britney Coleman (Company), Sam Given (The Inheritance), Gabrielle McClinton (Paradise Square), and Adie Merrell. Casting is by Claire Yenson.
The dramedy centers on a father and daughter embroiled in conflict over politics and the adult entertainment industry, shining a spotlight on art and censorship.
Philadelphia-native Bookler's previous works include an original musical, Snyder v Phelps, which premiered at Philadelphia Fringe Festival, along with the plays Addicted, Honeydew, All the Dead Biddles, and Bird in the Window. A member of The Dramatist Guild and Witherspoon Circle, Bookler is an associate professor of communication and theatre at Bucks County Community College.
