Original cast member Betsy Wolfe will play her final performance in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical & Juliet in October at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, according to an Instagram post from the performer.

Wolfe, Tony-nominated for her performance as Anne Hathaway in the hit jukebox musical, will conclude her run October 20.

"Playing Anne in & Juliet has been a lifelong dream come true," writes the Waitress star in the social post announcing her departure. "Before this show people would ask 'what’s your favorite role' and I’d often say 'it hasn’t been written yet.' Then I read the hilariously moving script by David West Read and the rest is history.

"I perform every single night with a grateful heart knowing how blessed I am to play the incomparable Anne, alongside my amazing castmates, current and past, and for so long."

Prior to her departure, Wolfe will also be out of the show August 23–25 for concerts with the Pasadena Pops, September 6–7 for solo concerts in New Orleans, and September 14–22 for the Playbill Travel Cruise to Venice.

Wolfe's successor as Anne has yet to be announced.

The Broadway cast of & Juliet currently features Maya Boyd as Juliet, Tony nominee Wolfe as Anne Hathaway, Tony nominee Jeannette Bayardelle as Angélique, Austin Scott as Shakespeare, Tony winner Paulo Szot as Lance, Justin David Sullivan as May, Ben Jackson Walker as Romeo, and Philippe Arroyo as Francois.

The ensemble includes Daniel Assetta, Andrew Chappelle, Michael Iván Carrier, Phil Colgan, Virgil Gadson, Najah Hetsberger, Makai Hernandez, Bobby “Pocket” Horner, Joomin Hwang, Megan Kane, Alaina Vi Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Brittany Nicholas, Ava Noble, Jasmine Rafael, Matt Raffy, Tiernan Tunnicliffe, and Rachel Webb.

The jukebox musical, nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, flips the script on the William Shakespeare classic, imagining what would happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo. Featuring a book by David West Read, the score includes a mix of tunes by Max Martin and more, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident.”

The production also has direction by Luke Sheppard, choreography by Jennifer Weber, musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Bill Sherman, scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Owen, video projection design by Andrzej Goulding, hair, wig, and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, and musical direction and additional orchestrations by Dominic Fallacaro.

U.S. casting is by Stephen Kopel and Carrie Gardner.

The international hit musical, which opened at the Sondheim November 17, 2022, was the first new musical of the 2022–2023 Broadway season to announce its recoupment. The Main Stem production has grossed more than $93,000,000 and welcomed more than 650,000 audience members to date.
