Utah's Pioneer Theatre Company will present a developmental reading of Will Van Dyke and Jeff Talbott's Ten Brave Seconds September 9 in the Meldrum Theatre.

Ellie Heyman will direct the reading as well as the company's full world-premiere production, set for January 30-February 14, 2026, at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre as part of PTC’s 2025-2026 season. Patrick Sulken is the musical director.

The upcoming reading will feature Carson Stewart (The Notebook) as Mike, Tony nominee John Cariani (Something Rotten!) as Mr. G, Ben Crawford (The Phantom of the Opera) as Carl, Jake Pedersen (Wicked) as Tim, Khadija Sankoh (Little Shop of Horrors) as Gabby, and Maggie Scott (Les Misérables) as Becky.

The ensemble will include Makenna Ashby, Jordan Briggs, Ariana Bagley, Kaden Conrad, Adam Moore, Sydney Rudel, Harrison Timm, and Ella Mei Williamson.

Ten Brave Seconds follows Mike, who's been holding onto a secret for a while, and today that secret is coming out.

“We’ve been working on Ten Brave Seconds in a quiet little bubble, but now we get to let the PTC audience in! This musical is such a labor of love for us, and we are very excited to start our journey to PTC’s stage with this reading, because now we all get to learn about the piece together,” said creators Van Dyke and Talbott in a joint statement. ”This kind of support is so rare, and we couldn’t be more grateful to Karen for her trust in this musical or more ready to get to work.”

Tickets, priced $10, can be purchased here.
