Barrett Wilbert Weed (Mean Girls) and Andrew Durand (Shucked, Dead Outlaw) have joined the cast of Discovering Broadway's upcoming The Trouble with Dead Boyfriends concert presentation. The concert will be held April 20 at The Tobias Theatre in Indianapolis, with performances at 5 and 8 PM.

Weed and Durand join a cast that includes the previously reported Myha’la (Industry, Leave the World Behind), Arica Jackson (The Book of Mormon), Jimmy Brewer (Shucked)Eric Wiegand (Plaza Suite), Ephraim Owens (The Voice), Brett Mutter, Sadie Cohen, Izzy Casciani, and Alanna Porter.

The Trouble with Dead Boyfriends features a book by Annie Pulsipher, music by Alex Petti, and lyrics by both. The musical follows three best friends who attempt to summon their dream prom dates with a sketchy love spell, and instead create a trio of monstrous boyfriends.

Joel Kirk will direct the concert, with Sheela Ramesh providing additional orchestrations. The concert is the culmination of the musical's development process with the Indiana company, which included a writer's retreat in November 2023.

The Trouble with Dead Boyfriends was previously workshopped and developed at Carnegie Mellon's Playground Festival and Berklee College of Music. It was also presented at the Premiere Premieres! Festival in Chicago in 2017 and SheNYC Festival in New York in 2018, and received awards from both presentations. Most recently, it ran Off-Broadway at the Players Theatre in summer 2023.
