Running May 5-27, POP! will be directed by Brad Rouse, with choreography by Billy Porter (Grease!, Miss Saigon). POP! was previously developed as part of the inaugural season at the Yale Institute for Music Theatre in June 2009. It received its world-premiere staging at the Yale Repertory Theatre later that season.

Here's how the musical is billed: "Who shot Andy Warhol? Welcome to Warhol's legendary Factory, where every artist has talent, ego, and a motive to pull the trigger. As the pop icon's life flashes before his eyes, he confronts an unforgettable cast of outrageous suspects and wrestles with the meaning of his own legacy."

City Theatre is also where Rapp premiered his solo play Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent in 2008.

Rapp originated the role of Mark in the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent. He has also appeared on Broadway in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. His film credits include "Adventures in Babysitting," "Dazed and Confused" and the screen adaptation of Rent.

Additional casting will be announced shortly.
