Kenneth Lonergan's The Waverly Gallery Takes Official Broadway Bow | Playbill

Stage to Page Kenneth Lonergan's The Waverly Gallery Takes Official Broadway Bow The play, starring Elaine May, Lucas Hedges, Joan Allen, Michael Cera, and David Cromer, opened October 25 at the John Golden Theatre.

The Broadway revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s memory play The Waverly Gallery officially opened on Broadway October 25 at the John Golden Theatre. The play, a 2001 Pulitzer Prize finalist, is about the final years of a grandmother’s battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

Lila Neugebauer directs a cast led by Oscar nominees Elaine May as the feisty Gladys Green and Lucas Hedges as her grandson. In The Waverly Gallery, Gladys is an old-school lefty and longtime owner of a small art gallery in Greenwich Village. The story intimately observes the impacts of her decline on her work and her family, especially her grandson.
