BroadwayHD, the theatrical streaming platform that features live captures of dozens of contemporary and classic theatrical productions, has been nominated for a Webby Award, recognizing outstanding achievements on the Internet.
BroadwayHD is nominated alongside Hulu, HBO, Master Class, and CNN’s Election 2000: Over/Time. Winners will be announced April 23, with an awards ceremony to follow May 13 at Cipriani on Wall Street.
Launched in 2015 by Tony-winning producers Stewart Lane and Bonnie Comley, BroadwayHD made history when it became the first to live-stream a Broadway production with the 2016 revival of She Loves Me. Recent additions to BroadwayHD’s catalog include Paula Vogel’s Indecent, An American in Paris, The King and I, and Falsettos.
“Being honored with this nomination from The Webby Awards is an exciting testament to BroadwayHD’s hard work and reinforces our mission of making Broadway accessible to audiences across the globe,” said Lane.
BroadwayHD is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. Voting is open through April 18 at vote.webbyawards.com.
