Industry News Broadway Salutes to Return After 5-Year Hiatus

The reception honors theatre professionals who have worked 25, 35, and 50+ years on Broadway.

The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) and The Broadway League will host their Broadway Salutes event October 29 at Sardi's Restaurant. The upcoming date is the event's first in five years, since before the pandemic.

The reception will be hosted by Tony winner Laura Benanti and feature a performance by Tony nominee Norm Lewis. The event will begin at 3:30 PM, with the reception taking place from 4-5 PM with elected officials, celebrities, and members of the greater theatre community in attendance.

At this reception, theatre professionals will receive special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years on Broadway and for their invaluable contributions to the business. Broadway Salutes honors actors, agents, attorneys, box office treasurers, casting directors, choreographers, composers, designers, directors, dressers, managers, musicians, orchestrators, producers, publicists, stagehands, stage managers, stylists, theatre owners, ticket sellers, ushers, writers, and many more theatre professionals who have dedicated their careers to the success of Broadway. 

Since the first ceremony in 2009, Broadway Salutes has honored more than 5,300 members of the theatre community. During the ceremony, the names of the honorees will scroll on the electronic zipper in Shubert Alley, beginning at 3:45 PM and continuing until 5 PM.

Broadway Salutes’ committee co-chairs are Laura Penn (SDC) and Lauren Reid (The John Gore Organization). Program co-directors are Marc Bruni and Paige Price (SDC). Rick Hip-Flores is music directing.

The committee also comprises Chris Brockmeyer (Broadway League), Sara Cutler (Local 802 AFM), Ryan Hanley (AEA), Darrelle Johnson (Broadway League), Ira Mont (AEA), Carl Mulert (USA 829), Lawrence Paone (Local 751), Rina Saltzman (ATPAM), Stasia Savage (IATSE Stagecraft), Ralph Sevush (Dramatists Guild), David Turner (TT Partners), Al Vincent Jr. (AEA), Mike Wexelblatt (Local One), and Pat White (Local 764). Foresight Events is the production team.
