The Startup is a sharp, satirical new musical about the price we pay for digital fame. Set in the cutthroat world of Big Tech, it follows Chip Cooper and his idealistic team as they try to build a more ethical social media platform, just as their company teeters on the edge of collapse. With biting humor and bold heart, The Startup dives into our tangled relationship with technology, tackling everything from social media use and data privacy to influencer culture and the rise of AI. It’s a timely story about ambition, integrity, and what we're willing to sacrifice in the pursuit of success.

The Startup will be premiering at The Flea Theater this April. We are mounting our workshop production after seven years in development and are looking for a Producer who can help bring this show to the next level following our workshop production.

The Producer will be provided with complimentary tickets to attend the show and, if it's of interest, we will set up a meeting with our current lead producer and writers to discuss next steps.

For this production, The Startup also is partnering with OutSnapped to extend the world of the musical beyond the stage and into the audience experience. Upon arrival, guests can scan a QR code to access a live, in-theater version of the fictional “kazoo” app, powered by OutSnapped’s AI photo booth platform, where they can create their own stylized digital personas. Select images will appear onstage before the show begins and at key moments throughout the performance, transforming the theater into a dynamic, shared social feed. The collaboration adds a playful, immersive element to the evening, bringing the show’s tech-driven universe to life in real time.

We are looking for kind, skilled, and business-savy producers who have experience pitching shows, securing funding, and developing a community/audience around theatrical productions.
