The Irvington Theater seeks an experienced and dependable Theater Technician to support the
technical operations of performances and special events. This position is ideal for a professional
with hands-on experience in lighting, sound, and projection who thrives in a collaborative and
fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the Theater Director, the technician will assist in ensuring that each production runs
smoothly, safely, and efficiently from load-in to strike.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain lighting, sound, and projection systems for a wide variety of
performances.
• Provide technical support for rehearsals, performances, and rentals.
• Collaborate with visiting artists, production teams, and local crew to execute technical
elements.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and best practices.
• Support occasional livestream or multimedia components as needed.
• Assist with load-ins, strikes, and general stage management tasks as required.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in live performance technical production.
• Working knowledge of ETC lighting systems, QLab, microphones, and sound
reinforcement equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail are essential.
Schedule and Compensation
• Hourly, contract position at $27/hour.
• Schedule varies according to the theater’s performance calendar (evenings and weekends
required).
