DESCRIPTION

The Technical Director manages the daily technical operation of both venues: the 178-seat mainstage and the 55-seat Huron Club cabaret venue. This role will report to the Managing Director and execute the production of shows at the SoHo Playhouse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Include, but are not limited to):

Supervise staff and local labor during scheduled calls to ensure proper use of house equipment and efficient use of labor.

Advance shows, technical staff, and SoHo Playhouse personnel to discuss production needs and schedule crew calls.

Advising production managers, directors, and designers on feasibility, cost, and equipment capabilities

Maintain a safe working environment for all performance and support areas, ensuring that all building, electrical, and fire codes are adhered to, and SoHo Playhouse safety procedures and OSHA regulations are followed.

Direct the maintenance and repair of equipment in both venues, including scheduling annual inspections, maintenance of equipment, and rigging.

Problem-solve sound, lighting, & projection issues as they arise.

Assist in training staff and stagehands.

Handle administrative matters relative to production department personnel.

Responsible for purchasing of supplies, materials, and equipment for the department, including generating and tracking of P.O.’s.

Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Strong lighting design, ETC EOS programming skills required.

Profiecient in QLab

Minimum 5 years of experience in live theater production.

2 years of supervisory experience related to production.

A college degree in a related field is preferred.

Ability to read drawings, plans, and make adjustments.

Ability to lead others with confidence and integrity.

Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to use a variety of industry-standard tools, materials, and equipment to complete assigned projects

Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand on a ladder

$30.00 – $35.00 per hour
