DESCRIPTION

Iron Crow Theatre, Baltimore's award-winning professional queer theatre, invites applications for a Sound Designer and Engineer for the 2024/2025 Season of Transgression. We’re seeking a creative and technically skilled individual to design, implement, set up, break down, and operate all sound elements for three productions: two plays and a musical featuring a live band. You’ll be responsible for live mixing throughout each run, with cast sizes ranging from 3 to 14.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement soundscapes, including live mixing for all productions.
  • Set up, operate, and break down sound systems, including wireless microphones (Shure and Sennheiser systems) and live band amplification.
  • Use QLab to cue and manage sound effects and other audio elements.
  • Collaborate with the directors, artistic team, and musicians to ensure sound design enhances each production.
  • Attend production meetings, tech rehearsals, and show run-throughs to ensure seamless integration of sound elements.

Requirements:

  • Experience with QLab software and wireless microphone systems (Shure and Sennheiser).
  • A strong understanding of live sound mixing for both theatre and live musical performance.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and adapt sound in real-time.

As a small non-profit, we offer competitive compensation within our market. This position is ideal for a motivated early-career professional eager to make bold artistic choices in an intimate, boundary-pushing theatre space.

Commitment:

  • Availability for tech rehearsals, production meetings, and all show dates. The season includes two plays and one musical, running from:

An Act of God: January 10 - 26, 2025
How to Transcend a Happy Marriage: April 11 - 27, 2025
The Rocky Horror Show: June 14 - 29, 2025

Application Process: Please submit your resume, portfolio, and a brief cover letter to [email protected]. In your cover letter, describe your experience with live sound mixing, QLab, and microphone systems for musicals that feature a live band.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and encourage applicants of all backgrounds to apply.
