ASNJ's inaugural performance reimagines American Idiot with a garage-band style production. Some performers will double as musicians, playing instruments live on stage. This approach aligns with ASNJ's mission to put a unique spin on existing works, creating a raw, energetic, and intimate experience.

American Idiot follows three disaffected young men, Johnny, Will, and Tunny, as they struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. The show, based on Green Day's Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum album, features every song from the album as well as several from its follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown.

Whatsername
A girl in the city who falls for Johnny. A rebellious activist who is willing to follow Johnny to the ends of the earth but fights to have him embrace their authentic relationship rather than pursue his addiction. ASNJ is seeking a BIPOC performer for this role.

Extraordinary Girl
A girl in the Middle East who appears as a sexual hallucination to injured Tunny. Attractive and mysterious, she later appears as his nurse and accompanies him home after the war. ASNJ is seeking a BIPOC performer for this role.

REQUIRED AVAILABILITY:
December 2nd (virtual) December 15-20th 4:00-10:00pm
Performance: Friday, December 20th at 8:00pm (6:30pm call time)

LOCATION

All rehearsals and performances will take place in Dunellen, New Jersey. Transportation from New York City to Dunellen, NJ is accessible by a 45-minute train ride.

A small performance stipend is provided to all performers.
