Broadway Bods is seeking performer submissions for their next production, an original musical, Query, to be presented first as a concert reading in January, then a fully staged production on March 21-23, 2025 in NYC.

This casting call is intended to find the cast that will stay with the piece through the January reading to the March performances. The cast of the concert reading gets first right of refusal for the fully staged show in March, and must declare their denial of continuation following the reading by January 1st, 2025. Performers will receive a $150 stipend for the completion of the production: $50 for the reading and $100 for the stage performance. Rehearsals and performances will take place in midtown and downtown Manhattan.

Please submit a video of you singing 32 bars. Submission deadline is November 24th, 2024. In person call backs will be conducted the evening of December 9th, 2024 in person in NYC. If selected, you will be provided the callback materials two weeks prior to prepare.

Synopsis

When a blind date set up from his roommate Molly catches Luke by surprise, he begins questioning his behavior and identity. As he tries to make some life changes, a new colorful cast of characters comes into his life, along with some blasts from the past. However, no journey of self discovery comes without some bumps along the way. “Query” is a musical that explores the beautiful spectrum of queer identity, and invites everyone to take their time when finding answers.

Character Descriptions

Luke: a 20 something average white guy. Looking to settle down with someone but is perpetually single and ready to make some changes in his life.

Molly: Late twenties lesbian, Luke’s roommate. A homebody and skilled decoupager, she is a fiercely loyal friend with a rich inner life she keeps a little too close to the chest.

Ronan: an overgrown frat boy with a heart of gold. Luke’s former college roommate-turned accidental tech wunderkind. A little dopey, a little doofy, but ultimately means well.

Morgan: a nonbinary DnD player, bird enthusiast, and Luke and Molly’s coworker. They are patient to a fault, and tired of being a dirty little secret. This role is flexible with range based on performer, and callback selections will come in multiple keys

Audrey: Luke’s ex from college, a boss and globe trotter. She suffers no fools.

Cooper: the maven of the local gay dive bar, Twist. An ethereal being and terrible flirt.

Vera: the bartender of Twist, friend of Molly and former camp counselor. This role is written for a trans woman, is flexible with range based on performer, and callback selections will come in multiple keys

This production will also cast 4 ensemble/swing roles.
