Opening Doors pulls inspiration from the Merrily We Roll Along tune, spotlighting emerging artists at the start of their creative journeys. The evening will allow artists to explore what it means to “open doors” for themselves such as navigating ambition, setbacks, and opportunity as part of the next generation of performers. Blending sincerity and humor, Opening Doors celebrates community and collaboration, connecting artists from across the city to share their stories through song. It’s a heartfelt, high-energy night about the process, the people, and the pursuit of creative dreams in New York City.
Submission Instructions:
Please submit headshot, resume, and a 32-bar (approximately 1 minute) video of a song (theatre or not) that reflects your personal journey, ambition, or experience in this industry. It doesn’t have to be a power-ballad! Keep it fun and lighthearted as well, this cabaret is a little self-aware LOL.
Live performance clips are acceptable. Please provide an unlisted YouTube link.
Important Dates:
• One rehearsal in early May (at Ripley Grier Studios)
• One mandatory band rehearsal in late May (Ripley Grier)
• Friday, June 5 — Afternoon tech/soundcheck
• Friday, June 5 — Performance at 9:30 PM at 54 Below
