DESCRIPTION

Production Manager / Stage Manager for 2026 Season

Ancram Center for the Arts seeks a highly collaborative, well-organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve as Production Manager / Resident Stage Manager. This is a hybrid opportunity with onsite work during rehearsals and performances and administrative responsibilities that can be executed remotely. The ideal candidate is a theater professional eager to make a meaningful contribution to the operations and community impact of a small, thriving 70-seat theater company serving the Hudson Valley, Berkshires, and Northwest Connecticut. Responsibilities include:

  • Produce and maintain season production calendar, contact sheets and daily schedules in collaboration with the general manager and season producer.

  • Run rehearsals and performances of mainstage productions as well as special events.

  • Facilitate communication across all departments.

  • Manage communication with visiting artists.

  • Knowledge of basic lighting, projection, and sound equipment.

  • Conversant in q lab, SFX and Vector works.

  • Ability to read a ground plan and hang a light plot.

  • Ability to run a crew.

  • Excellent communication skills and a sense of humor are essential.

During our upcoming 2026 season, Ancram Center expects to produce three mainstage productions, each with 3 weeks rehearsal/2 weeks performances, four one-week artist residencies culminating with public showings, and approximately six one-day special events, including readings, music concerts, a summer fundraising gala, and community storytelling performances.

Ancram Center for the Arts operates under agreements with Actors’ Equity Association, United Scenic Artists and Stage Directors and Choreographers. Equity and non-Equity stage managers are welcome to apply. Performances take place in an historic performance hall and offsite outdoor venues. A newly opened Annex adjacent to the performance hall provides meeting space and artist housing. For more information about our activities, go to ancramcenter.org.

Ancram Center strongly encourages individuals that have not been historically represented in the arts sector to apply. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, pregnancy, disability, military status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
