Florida Studio Theatre is looking for two experienced pit musicians, one to play Guitar (electric and acoustic) and one to play Bass (electric) in our upcoming production of A Night with Janis Joplin.
A Night with Janis Joplin
Written by Randy Johnson
Musical Arrangements by Randy Johnson & The Estate of Janis Joplin
Directed by Ben Liebert
Music Direction by Nathaniel Beliveau
Synopsis:
Taking place one week before Janis Joplin’s death, Janis tells her own story through her music, assisted by her influences (Etta James, Odetta, Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith, and Nina Simone) as they come to life, centering not only Janis as an artist but all the women who taught her the blues. This concert-style show is full of blues, rock’n’roll, and some Janis Joplin gems of wisdom as we revisit some of her best hits and personal favorites.
The band is a fully integrated element of the show, appearing on stage (possibly in costume.) As such, some music may need to be memorized.
