Piper Theatre Productions is looking for a Music Director for our summer youth production of Alice by Heart.

Piper is a company that builds work from the inside out. We care about story, about ensemble, and about young people finding their voices and surprising themselves.

This is not a plug-and-play job. It’s a rehearsal room. It’s a process. It’s a group of young artists who will show up with more heart than technique, and your job is to meet them there and help raise the work.

Dates

Staff Orientation: June 27

Rehearsals: June 29 - July 24 (No rehearsal July 3) M-F

Performances: July 23-26
Strike: July 27

Hours

9 am - 4 pm weekdays / 12 pm - 6 pm on Orientation / 3 pm - TBD Strike

Responsibilities

– Teach and rehearse all vocal music with the cast
– Collaborate with Band Leader, James Steinman-Gordon
– Work with musicians to shape the sound of the production
– Establish tempos, keys, and vocal arrangements that serve young voices
– Partner closely with the Youth Director to ensure the music is telling the story, not sitting on top of it
– Help build a rehearsal room that is focused, supportive, and alive

– Chaperone afternoon field trip to Cats: The Jellicle Ball

Salary

$3,000

We are looking for someone who understands that this play lives somewhere between imagination and the reality of war. Someone who can guide young performers through that space with care, clarity, and a sense of play.
